Acne treatment in Cluj-Napoca

Acne isn’t a hygiene problem, and in adults it rarely “just goes away”. It’s a medical condition that can be treated — with the right diagnosis, a personal plan and some patience. I treat acne in teenagers and adults, from mild forms to nodular-cystic acne and acne scars.

Consultation 350 lei · follow-up 150 lei

Teenagers and adults · No referral needed · In English or Spanish

When to see a dermatologist

  • Your acne continues after 25 or started in adulthood
  • You have painful, deep spots (nodules, cysts)
  • Pharmacy products haven’t helped after 2–3 months
  • Scars or persistent marks are starting to form
  • Acne is affecting your confidence and social life

How the acne consultation works

I look at the type and severity of your acne, what you have already tried and what may be keeping it going — hormonal, cosmetic or lifestyle factors. Based on that, we build a realistic plan together.

I’ll tell you from the start: acne treatment is measured in weeks and months, not days. We set follow-up visits and adjust the plan as your skin responds.

What the plan can include

  • Topical treatments — retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics, combined according to your type of spots and how well your skin tolerates them
  • Oral medication — antibiotics or isotretinoin when your type of acne needs it, always with monitoring and blood tests
  • Hormonal acne — if your acne has a hormonal component, hormonal treatment is decided by a gynaecologist or endocrinologist; I take care of the skin and we work together
  • Medical peels — in-clinic procedures that speed up clearing and fade post-acne marks
  • Scar treatment — once active acne is under control: fractional CO₂ laser and other procedures, chosen according to the type of scars

Teenagers and adults: not the same acne

In teenagers, acne is driven by increased oil production and usually responds well to topical treatment and, when needed, oral medication for a limited time. In adults — especially women over 25 — it often appears on the chin and jawline, is linked to hormones and stress, and tends to be chronic. Here the plan is longer and often includes adjusting your skin care routine, not just medicines.

Acne that leaves scars or marks is a special case: the earlier we start, the less you will need procedures for scars later.

Before your appointment

  • Come with a clean face, without make-up, so I can see your skin as it is
  • Bring the creams and treatments you have used, or photos of their labels — and tell me how long you used them
  • Bring any blood tests from recent months
  • Don’t stop your current treatment before the visit just so “the doctor can see” — I want to see your skin in its real context

What to expect

The first visible improvement usually comes after 6–12 weeks of treatment used correctly; in the first weeks your skin may even look slightly irritated, which is normal with most topical treatments. Follow-ups are every 6–8 weeks at first, then less often. I don’t promise perfect skin by a fixed date, because every skin responds differently; I promise we adjust the plan until we find what works for you.

Prices

A dermatology consultation is 350 lei and a follow-up 150 lei. Procedures for marks and scars (peels, laser, microneedling) are priced separately, and we only discuss them if you need them. Prices are in Romanian lei (RON), set by Clinica Optimum, and may change — I confirm the exact price on WhatsApp before your appointment.

Frequently asked questions

How long until I see results?

Usually 6–12 weeks of treatment used correctly. Acne treatment is measured in months, so the follow-up visits matter as much as the first one.

Why haven’t pharmacy products worked?

Often because the type of acne needs prescription treatment, or because products are changed too quickly or combined in a way that irritates the skin. A correct diagnosis comes first.

Is isotretinoin dangerous?

It is a very effective treatment for severe or scarring acne. It needs blood tests before and during treatment and strict pregnancy prevention for women. I explain the benefits and risks in detail before we decide together.

Do you treat teenagers?

Yes. Teenage acne is one of the most common reasons for a visit. Teenagers come with a parent, but I talk to them directly, because they are the ones who use the treatment.
